OUR PHILOSOPHY
Our stitches are a new and improved, non-invasive form of stitches. The goal of this design was to create a medicinal product that would help heal wounds without creating scarring, as well as ease pain associated with traditional stitches. With this unique design, we'd like to make cor-stitches a family friendly alternative to stitches, as these can scare children.
Classic Stitches vs. Our Stitches
Stitches are used when a cut is deep or gaping, bleeds after 20 minutes of direct pressure, or when scarring might be an issue. Stitches work to hold tissue together while it heals, until the skin, as well as the tissue, is fused back together. When stitches are administered, the doctor will numb the area, due to the often painful puncturing of the skin. The doctor may remove any dead tissue, and then holds the skin together and loops the thread through it, tying a knot at the end. Stitches need to stay in place for a couple of days for a couple of weeks, depending on the wound. Children often react poorly to stitches, with reactions ranging from scared to stressed. Adults tend to react in a similar manner, but are typically more calm.
With Cor-Stitches, adhesive is applied to either side of the wound and string is pulled to close it. Adhesive stitches lessen scarring and are easier to maintain as well. Not only is it easier to apply, but could also make time spent in the hospital much more short. Since stitches are an invasive procedure, nurses cannot administer them. Instead, a doctor is required. However, hospitals are often busy and the waiting time can be long. Since Cor-Stitches are non-invasive, a nurse is able to apply them.
